Today, our entry into buildings and our living spaces is often by car, and the outdoor areas of buildings are often not visible. To make them visible, one needs to increase the height or take actions on vertical surfaces that allow the viewer, while driving their car, to observe and enjoy them. Another point to consider is that there is little land space left to dedicate to green areas, water fountains, or seating. Most of the land surface is used for building or allocated to ramps and parking spaces, as if the car is more important than the person themselves. Sometimes, the area for parking one car is even larger than the area of a person’s bedroom. In these imbalances, many vertical surfaces are created that could serve as locations for greenery or to create a courtyard-like feeling.
Temporal is one of the few buildings that, in addition to creating a green space in the entrance area, also uses its vertical surfaces for green wall installations. These green walls are visible to pedestrians outside the building. Often, passersby stop for a moment to enjoy the sight of the plants and the sound of the water from the green walls.
Green Wall Installation:
The green wall has been installed according to the design by the Rahmani Architecture Company, within the separating walls. This execution detail has ensured that no part of the green wall’s technical components is visible, creating a seamless vertical green space.
Care and Maintenance:
Maintaining the plants and green wall equipment was initially very challenging due to the ongoing construction work. At the beginning, we visited the site three times a week, but after the permanent water and electricity connections were made, we now visit only twice a month.
Plant Selection:
The plants used for this green wall are outdoor flowers and plants, selected in such a way that they bloom in the spring. In winter, the plants turn shades of yellow and orange, and in the spring, they return to green. This alternating change in color and blooming has a very positive effect on creating a sense of vitality and freshness.
